Systems Design Engineering students will exhibit product designs that solve local company problems or address a wicked design problem.

Waterloo ranked top engineering school in Canada

In a recent survey published by Business Insider, the University of Waterloo was recognized as the top engineering school in Canada. Ranking 29th in the world and fourth amongst non-US institutions. Other Canadian universities in the top 50 included the University of Toronto (35) and University of Ottawa (44).

Canada winning as a sustainable energy superpower

Professor Keith Hipel of Systems Design Engineering, is one of the members of the Energy Pathways Task Force of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. This task force recently released a document, "Canada: Winning as a Sustainable Energy Superpower".

Systems design graduate wins OCEPP Student Essay Competition

Systems design graduate Caleb Gingrich (BASc 2012) is one of two winners of the 2012 Student Essay Competition held by the Ontario Centre for Engineering and Public Policy (OCEPP). 

Submissions had to focus on a subject matter broadly related to engineering and public policy and were judged on originality, quality of research and clarity. Caleb’s essay is titled “Industrial Symbiosis: Current understandings and needed ecology and economics influences." [Full essay]
