Systems design celebrates faculty and staff award recipients

The Outstanding Staff Performance Award in the administrative category was presented to Vicky Lawrence, the Engineering Research Excellence Award at the Assistant Professor level was given to Alex Wong, and the Engineering Research Excellence Award at the Full Professor level was given to David Clausi, all in Systems Design Engineering.

The Sunnybrook Prize: Recognizing excellence in undergraduate research

This message is sent on behalf of Dr. Kullervo Hynynen, Director, Physical Sciences Platform, Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI), Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SB).

Each year, SRI hosts a Sunnybrook Prize Competition where $10,000 is awarded to the winner of the competition. The competition is open to students in their final 2 years of study, at a Canadian University, in the physical sciences/engineering disciplines, with an interest in biomedical research.

Alumni win gold at World Spirits Competition

Zirkova Premium Vodka, created by John Vellinga (BASc '91, Systems Design) and Katherine Koszarny (BASc '92, Systems Design) recently won the Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Zirkova was among 1,100 entries from 61 countries at the competition, regarded as the world's most reputable and prestigious.

Biweekly Seminar Series for Fall 2012

Systems design engineering professor, Hamid R. Tizhoosh, will conduct a series of seminars in the fall. This seminar series consists of multiple talks about aspects of our life. What is the effect of evolution? What is violence and where does it originate? Can we be a free human society? What is freedom?
