EyeCheck, a company working to provide vision care to millions of people in the developing world, was the biggest winner at the Velocity Fund Finals held yesterday in the Student Life Centre's Great Hall.
Shahid Haider from the Vision and Image Processing Research Group in the Department of Systems Design Engineering is the proud recipient of the 2014 Norman Edmund Inspiration Award, for his research on non-contact, handheld imaging to infer a patient’s blood glucose concentration.
The Norman Edmund Inspiration Award honors the contributions made by Norman Edmund to advance the science of optics. The recipient of the award is chosen from among the 45 global finalists in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, who best embodies the legacy of Mr. Edmund.
The Outstanding Staff Performance Award administrative category winner is Kristen Deckert for her exceptional contributions as the undergraduate administrative coordinator for systems design engineering.
