Esch Entrepreneurship Awards Pitch Competition

A fourth-year student team from Systems Design Engineering that consists of David Lu, Daniel Schwartz, Adam Thompson, and Michal Ulman has won one of the six $10,000 prizes at the annual Esch Entrepreneurship Awards Pitch Competition.

Dr. Alexander Wong talks about Deep Learning with Darwin: Evolutionary Synthesis of Operational Deep Intelligence at WICI event

Dr. Alexander Wong, a Canada Research Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering, talks about the democratization and proliferation of deep learning as commodity AI at a recent WICI (Waterloo Institute for Complexity and Innovation) event.

Amazon partners with Waterloo to support AI research

As part of the Alexa Fund Fellowship, which was formally announced today, Amazon is supplying Alexa-enabled devices and sending an Alexa speech scientist to mentor Waterloo researchers and students.

There will be three undergraduate courses hosted by the Department of Systems Design Engineering for biomedical and mechatronics engineering students currently run by Professor Alexander Wong and Professor Igor Ivkovic, and a graduate-level course hosted by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering currently run by Karray.
