Piano installed in memory of cherished professor

The Department of Systems Design Engineering (SYDE) has installed a piano in the Engineering 7 6th floor atrium (E7 6301) in honour of Professor Igor Ivkovic, who passed away suddenly in 2020. Professor Ivkovic was a passionate teacher and leader in the SYDE community and is greatly missed.

SYDE students place 2nd and 3rd in video competition

Systems Design Engineering (SYDE) students took second and third place in this year's Waterloo.AI GRADflix, a video competition for University of Waterloo graduate students. The competition challenges grad students to create a one minute video that describes the goals and outcomes of their research work.

New course offering: Indigenous Sustainability Entrepreneurship

ERS 275: Indigenous Sustainability Entrepreneurship is a new course available to Engineering students for Winter term 2022. 

Offered by the School of Environment, Resources, and Sustainability (SERS), this course provides an overview and introduction to environmental sustainability through the lens of Indigenous entrepreneurship. The course can be counted as a complementary studies elective and there are no prerequisites.
