About Teaching and Learning Spaces at Waterloo

The Teaching and Learning Spaces (TLS) Operations group plays a vital role in realizing classroom evolution to meet the needs of the University of Waterloo, its instructors, and students. Its mandate is enacted through the lens of continuous improvement to teaching and learning spaces at Waterloo. The group includes representatives from the following units:

  • Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE)
  • Plant Operations
  • Space Planning Office (SPO)
  • Registrar's Office (RO)
  • Information Systems and Technology - Instructional Technologies and Media Services (IST-ITMS)
  • Office of the Associate Vice-President, Academic (AVPA)

The operations group reports to a small steering committee, which provides direction to the TLS Operations group and seeks final budget approval from the Provost for relating to teaching and learning spaces. The steering committee includes:

  • the Associate Vice-President, Academic,
  • the Interim Associate Provost, Integrated Planning and Budgeting,
  • the Registrar,
  • Senior staff representatives from CTE, SPO, RO, and IST-ITMS
