In Professor Debora Estrin’s talk “Small, n=me, data”, she considers a new kind of cloud-based app that would create a picture of an individual’s behavior over time by continuously, securely and privately analyzing the digital traces generated through interaction with mobile and other online technology. What if these individual traces could be available to the person who generates them? They might fuel apps that offer us personalized, data-driven insights into our own habits and habitats, with enormous potential for mobile health.

Deborah Estrin is a Professor of Computer Science at Cornell Tech and a Professor of Public Health at Weill Cornell Medical College. She recently presented at TEDMED about how small data can show big health changes.
