The jumping off point for our conversation will be A. James Reimer's book entitled Toward an Anabaptist Political Theology: Law, Order, and Civil Society. The book was prompted in part by a challenge from Oliver O'Donovan that led Reimer to develop
... a more honest theology of law and civil institutions and their function in helping shape and preserve human and nonhuman life in a fallen world, as mandated in the Christian doctrines of creation, redemption, and reconciliation.
