The TMTC Welcome Back Dinner is an annual event hosted by the Director of TMTC, in this case interim Director Jeremy Bergen and TMTC Coordinator Kim Penner, to welcome students to the start of another academic year. Included in that welcome is an opportunity to fellowship with one another over a meal provided by TMTC. It is a great time for incoming students to be introduced to the TMTC community, for existing affiliates to reconnect, and to share important information about TMTC events and ways to participate.

With the 500th anniversary of the Reformation at hand in 2017, the question of how to commemorate it is upon us.

Do we celebrate the Reformers' renewal of the church in light of the gospel? Do we mourn the division of the one, catholic church? Or have events like the globalization of Christianity and the rise of Pentecostalism made the 16th-century debates irrelevant?

Join us as Professor Ephraim Radner and a panel of theologians representing a variety of Christian traditions wrestle through these important questions and more.

Wednesday, January 28, 2015 — 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM EST
TMTC doctoral student Darrell Winger will share his research and invite conversation on the following topic: “Considering Jim Reimer’s Challenge - Toward a More Honest Anabaptist Political Theology”. Please join us.

Please join the Toronto Mennonite Theological Centre for a special presentation by Mennonite Church Canada Witness Worker, Andrew Suderman as he talks about power in the context of South Africa. In particular, his presentation will touch on issues of politics, justice, and peace as they pertain to the struggle against apartheid, the theological outlook that fed the struggle, and the shifts that have taken place after apartheid. In the process, Suderman will explore how power is understood and embodied and some of the issues that particular forms of power breed.
