In 1970, Jennifer Hosten made history by becoming the first woman of colour to win the title of Miss World. A person of many talents, her careers encompass broadcasting, diplomacy, international development, entrepreneurship, and counselling.

The People Make History biannual lecture series, generously supported by the Estate of Mary Stedman, invites witnesses and participants of historic events or movements to tell their stories. By sharing their memories, they bring history alive and make critical links between past and contemporary times.
