Course selection for first-year and transfer students

An advisor's door

Whether you select courses for the fall term depends on your program. In some programs, you'll select some or all of your courses. In highly-structured programs, you'll automatically be registered into all of your courses.

What's the process if I select courses?

    1. You'll create a list of courses you'd like to take.
    2. We'll use the requests from all students to create a master schedule that works best for the greatest number of students.
    3. On July 18th, you can view your class schedule. Starting the next day, you can make changes if you wish and if your program allows it.

    Important dates

July 3rd to 9th: Request your courses

If you need to request courses, this timeframe is reserved exclusively for first-year students.

    July 18th: View your schedule

You can log into Quest and view your schedule for the fall term.

Starting July 19th: You can make changes, if applicable

In many programs, you’re able to make changes to your schedule during the Drop/Add Period that lasts until September. We encourage you to request your classes as soon as possible, since some classes fill up quickly.

    Late July: View your fees

Fees for the fall term will be posted to your Quest account in late July. You need to arrange payment of your fees by the middle of August.

Late September: Request your winter term courses

In many programs, you'll request all or some of your courses for the January to April winter term. View information for your faculty/program

      What's next?

If you'll be choosing courses for the fall term, you can review last year's fall and winter courses to get an idea of the courses you’d like to take.

You won’t request winter courses until the end of September, but we’ve given you the list so you can plan which courses you'd like to take in the fall and winter terms.
