On January 31st, 1957 the Canadian parliament proclaimed "A day of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed", cementing a tradition going back to Samuel Champlain whose settlers formed the "Order of Good Cheer" and shared food with the First Nations people at harvest time.

The staff at the University of Waterloo are hard at work to create a memorable experience for all concerned. From the graduates, their parents and siblings to the professors who are seeing their charges into the world. It is a moving time.
