Lab updates

We are currently in the data collection phase of several experiments and are preparing to launch an array of new and exciting experiments in the winter. Also, several sections of the website have been updated with new information.

The lab is also open for demonstrations for any faculty and graduate students who are interested in virtual reality. Please contact Dr. Colin Ellard or Deltcho Valtchanov if you are interested in seeing our facilities.

Lab receives $38,000 research grant

John Lewis and Colin Ellard have been awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Research Development Initiative (SSHRC RDI) grant in the amount of $38,000 for a proposal entitled “Cognition and the built environment: An examination of the wayfinding abilities and requirements of people with Alzheimer’s disease in the urban environment.”

Lab restored

The second part of our lab has now been installed. Although we are still waiting to receive one last head-mounted display (HMD), the majority of the lab is now functional. The facilities and links sections have been updated.

Lab receives $40K Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Research Development Initiative Grant

Colin Ellard, Thomas Seebohm, and Mark Zanna have been awarded (SSHRC) Research Development Initiative Grant valued at $40K for an application entitled “Exploring the relationship between culture and built form using immersive virtual reality".

New changes to the website

The left navigation menu was adjusted. A new section about undergraduate students using the lab facilities has been added. The About Urban Realities Laboratory section was also redone.
