Field tripping: Wisconsin Dells

The Wisconsin Dells are situated an hour northwest of Madison. The area offers enough family entertainment, spectacular scenery and geology to keep you interested for at least a week. Camping facilities are available in State Parks and private campgrounds. Motels have waterparks and the area is also well endowed with mini golfs and other attractions.

Have you aver wondered: why the Atlantic coastlines of South America and Africa look as though they could fit together; why a chain of volcanoes lies along the west coast of Canada; and why most of the oil and gas offshore lie off the east, and not the west coasts of Canada? All of these phenomena can be explained by one theory known as Plate Tectonics.

Outdoor radon levels in Canada

There is great concern, particularly in the United States regarding the concentration of radon inside homes. In the United States radon is believed to cause a significant number of deaths from lung cancer. However, very few measurements have been made of the radon concentration in outdoor air.

As we go about daily living, we are reminded in many ways that we do not exist in isolation. We are part of a much larger symbiotic system of life on earth and it is even popular these days to talk of the earth as if it were a single, closed system. The earth, however, does not exist in isolation.

It is a planet in the solar system and, as such, is subjected to solar system processes. One such process is the impact of interplanetary asteroids and comets.
