DESCRIPTION:The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) offers a variety of prestigio
 us\nmedals and awards recognizing outstanding achievements of Canadian\nre
 searchers. It is a responsibility of Fellows of the RSC to nominate\ncandi
 dates for these honours\, and they are explicitly invited to do\nso every
  year.\n\nEarlier this year\, Water Institute member Keith Hipel\n[/water-
 institute/node/248]\, University Professor in Waterloo's\nDepartment of Sy
 stems Design Engineering\, was awarded the Miroslaw\nRomanowski Medal for 
 significant contributions to the resolution of\nscientific aspects of envi
 ronmental problems or for important\nimprovements to the quality of an eco
 system in all aspects —\nterrestrial\, atmospheric and aqueous — broug
 ht about by scientific\nmeans.\n\nOn November 29\, professor Hipel will de
 liver the Miroslaw Romanowski\nLecture at the University of Waterloo: \"N
 egotiations over Groundwater\nContamination.\"
