Monday, May 7, 2018 7:00 am - 9:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

posterThe University of Waterloo is proud to announce that it is the host institution for the newly created Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) of Canada.

To celebrate the launch of SDSN Canada, we are hosting a keynote lecture by Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Special Advisor to United Nations on the Sustainable Development Goals.

All across the planet organizations, governments and people are rallying around the Sustainable Development Goals, an ambitious agenda by the United Nations to transform the world we live in by 2030. What are our contributions as Canadians and how can our national knowledge and education capacity address the world’s most pressing problems? World-renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs visits Waterloo to launch the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Canada, and discuss Canada’s unique role and opportunity in protecting the environment, eradicating poverty, and providing access to clean water, education and decent work for all.

The University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Environment (Canada’s largest Faculty of Environment) is the host for SDSN Canada, in partnership with the Waterloo Global Science Initiative. In this role, in partnership with academic, government and industry partners from across Canada, SDSN Canada will share knowledge, activate research and help solve the interconnected economic, social, and environmental challenges confronting Canada and the world.
