Roy Brouwer, Executive Director of the Water Institute and University Research Chair in Water Resources Economics, contributed to an article recently published by Great Lakes Now, an initiative of Detroit Public TV and PBS.

The article is part of a two-part series looking at the cost of water in Ontario and Michigan.

Research snapshot: Legacy of phosphorus bioavailability from cumulative watershed disturbance pressures, especially wildfire

Researchers from the forWater Network have recently published insights from four years of field research. They have released a series of research snapshots, the most recent featuring the first of its kind study showing legacy effects of wildfire on water quality over long distances.

The findings come from an international collaboration leveraging expertise from different disciplines, Geography and Engineering, at the University of Waterloo as well as forest hydrology from the University of Alberta and expertise in water resources and land management from Rothamsted Research in the UK.

Shortly following Dutch Heritage Day, marked on May 4th, we took the opportunity to celebrate the many connections we have with The Netherlands, one of Canada’s most significant trade, investment and innovation partners.

Impact Rankings 2022: Clean water and sanitation (SDG6) and Life below water (SDG14)

The University of Waterloo has once again placed in the top 100 universities on the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022. This year, Waterloo moves up 46 spots on the list to number 53 overall.
