WI member named CIG 2021 Geomatica Award winner

Water Institute member Jonathan Li, Professor of geospatial data science and remote sensing in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management and cross-appointed to the Department of Systems Design Engineering was selected as the 2021 winner of the Geomatica Award granted by the Canadian Institute of Geomatics (CIG).

Aquanty Inc., a water resources science and technology firm specializing in predictive analytics, simulation and forecasting, research services, and IoT, was recently selected one of Waterloo, Ontario’s “top 11 big data startups and companies” by Best Startup Canada.

The top companies were selected based on their exceptional performance in innovation, growth, management and societal impact.

Nandita Basu on toxic algal blooms in seemingly pristine waters

Water Institute member Nandita Basu was recently quoted in Health magazine's Mind and Body section. The professor in the Departments of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Civil and Environmental Engineering provided an overview of toxic algal blooms, what promotes their growth and their occurence is seemingly pristine water bodies.
