The University Senate consists of University admin, faculty and elected student leaders. Senate is responsible for all issues relating to academic quality, including the granting of degrees, setting program requirements and approving academic regulations. These candidates are running to represent their faculty and all undergrads in an at-large position on Senate to be part of decisions that matter to undergrads, like Fall Reading Break and program requirements.

There is one Math undergrad Senate, and six candidates running. Math undergrads will have the opportunity to choose their representation on Senate by ranking the following candidates on voting days (Feb2-4):

As an experienced student representative, I'm confident in my ability to advocate for what we need—I've worked hard since my 1A term learning the ins and outs of student advocacy, and I hope you'll trust me to continue doing so. This winter is my second term serving as your Undergraduate Mathematics Senator, and I'm looking forward to the chance to reprise my role representing fellow math students on the University's Senate. As a passionate Waterloo Warrior who has extensive experience with student advocacy and engagement, I truly understand what it means to make an impact for students! Now, I wish to take my involvement to the next level through governance and policies regarding university administration as the Mathematics Senator. This year, there have been numerous unexpected changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as your Mathematics Senator, I will continue to strive to help students navigate the various academic and policy supports available for students in this difficult time for all. Are you ready to make an impact with me?

  3. Advocate for more elective courses instead of useless requirements like depth & breadth or communication courses

Reason why someone should vote for you in 100 words or less:My priority is to listen to Math students from all backgrounds to bring their voices to the table. I have been advocating on students’ behalf since my 1A term. Lets make sure the university listens to students. I have a proven track record of listening to students and bringing up their concerns and will continue doing so.

Hey, I'm Matthew, and I'm running to be your next VP Operations & Finance! I've loved every second I've invested in student representation, and I'm very excited to have the chance to serve you again.
