Did you know that 20% of UWaterloo undergrads are international students?

The International and Canadian Student Network (ICSN) makes it easy for Canadian students to meet and make connections with international students, and vice versa, on campus.

“ICSN provides a safe and fun space through social activities for international and Canadian students to meet and interact,” said Elaine Valles, a sports business and therapeutic recreation student who is also one of the two social directors for ICSN.

You may know ICSN for their massive termly events, such as “ICSN Goes to Niagara Falls” this term. However, ICSN also hosts Babble Cafes on Tuesdays for people to practice conversational English; and Cultural Connections on Thursdays which are chill socials for people to get together, converse, and participate in indoor and outdoor activities!

For Canadian students, you'll have the opportunity to meet other students from around the world and learn about different cultures and languages. For international students, meeting Canadian students can help immerse you into Canadian culture.

And regardless of where you're from, you'll make new friends and connections over shared experiences through ICSN.

One misconception is that ICSN is for international students, but Valles reiterated that everyone is welcome and encouraged to come out to make new social connections on campus. You can also get involved by volunteering with ICSN.

“This is your chance to be a part of something - build on existing or learn new skills such as leadership and teamwork!” said Valles.

You can find open positions Leads, and stay up to date with upcoming events and office hours on their page and Facebook.
