3. Approval of the minutes of the March meeting

The minutes of the March meeting were accepted as distributed.

4. Business Arising

Node revision deletion (Andrew McAlorum)

  • Proposing that we limit it to 50 revisions and would like to implement at the end of the next sprint (ends May 20th).
    • Committee members approve of this proposal.

5. WCMS Migration Computer Science URL request

  • Computer Science (CS) would like to keep the domain cs.uwaterloo.ca as opposed to using uwaterloo.ca/computer-science (and uwaterloo.ca/cs as a short-form URL) after migration into the WCMS.
  • The standard was set when the WCMS was implemented initially that in order to remain consistent across campus, that everyone would use the same format for URLs.
    • At the time of implementation, Marketing and Strategic Communications (MSC) felt that it was important to provide users with a consistent look and feel for all of its sites.
  • If an exception was to be made for CS, than other groups would likely come back to ask to do the same.
  • CS is concerned about the legacy of their current URL and its status amongst other top CS schools in North America; it is important to them to maintain their competitive edge.
  • Considering the technical aspects of this request should be put aside until it is decided if it is an acceptable request or not.
  • The majority of WAC members agree, that while they support CS’s concerns, that if they are joining the WCMS, they should not be exempted from the standard method/format.
    • This recommendation will be brought to the Web Steering Committee next week for their review and decision.

6. IA update (Joe Kwan, Amy Meredith)

  • Continued our IA working group exercises and have outlined the next steps for both of us.
  • Will start reaching out to more groups that weren’t involved in the working groups; we are trying to figure out what types of things our users are doing.
  • Need to deliver a new SEW course towards the end of June.
  • The Student Success Office (SSO) has agreed to facilitate a student feedback session and Kirsty Budd will participate in helping formulate the questions.

7. Waterloo CMS update

Training & support update (Heather Wey)

  • Deployed a maintenance release (v1.10.1) to fix issues found with v1.10.
  • We are working towards 1.11, hoping to have it out at the end of next sprint.
