  • Would be beneficial to have an external expert come in to train the trainer.
  • Sarah Forgrave will investigate video captioning guidelines and best practices and update the group at a future meeting.

Technical update (Kevin Paxman)

  • Bug fix for unpublished promo items showing on pages pushed to production; currently testing to confirm this catches all cases

General WCMS update (Andrew McAlorum)

  • Working with the vendor on conference sites is taking longer than expected. It will likely be ready by end of February/March.
  • OpenScholar personal sites will be available in the Spring sometime; Andrew McAlorum will provide a more thorough update at the February meeting.

Google Analytics (Don Duff-McCracken)

  • Digital Analytics Working Group (DAWG) met last Friday; good size group with good representation.
  • Focus of the group is on increasing/improving the use of analytics on campus.
  • There is lots of knowledge in this group on analytics; that was shared amongst the group at the meeting.
  • There was a general feeling by most in the group that there are situations where your 'slice' of the Google Analytics data does not present a complete enough picture of what you are needing to assess.
  • The group wants to ensure that any GA skills developed within this group are shared with the wider campus.
  • Need to create some form of mechanism to determine what analytics various people need access too.
  • Providing Joe Kwan with some scenarios of use cases for needing access would help formulate this mechanism.  Sarah Forgrave provided a good use case example to Don Duff-McCracken; Don will forward email to committee.
  • If there was to be increased access, some constraints need to remain in place as opposed to opening it up to everyone.
  • If there was interest in a general analytical update on a monthly basis; the working group can discuss what types of content would of interest in a monthly report.
  • The issue of granting access to the analytics is a governance issue and not technical issue.
  • The working group will meet again and provide another update at a future meeting.

Other Business

  • It was mentioned in December that the Information Architecture (IA) working group would re-form January. Joe Kwan will provide an update at the February WAC meeting.

Meeting Adjournment
