Go Eng Girl

Go ENG Girl is an event that every school of engineering across the province hosts for girls in Grades 7,8,9 and 10 in October of each year.  The Waterloo event will include speakers, a parent panel of existing students, a showcase information fair, opportunities to meet current female Waterloo Engineering students, cool hands-on activities, and a delicious free lunch!  The only cost to attend will be transportation to the University of

Join the Waterloo University Women in Engineering 'Run for the Cure' team for 2013!

The Run for the Cure is Canada's largest single day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, education and health promotion initiatives. This year’s event takes place on Sunday, October 6, 2013. 

The event is a 1k or 5k run and/or walk. You don’t have to decide your distance or whether you will be walking, running, or a combination of the two until the day of the event.

This full day conference for upper year engineering students will showcase a variety of  career options, transition tips and skill building sessions on what to expect when you enter the workforce, sign a contract and begin building a career.

Girls Club is for girls in grade 4 – 6 and engages participants through activities designed to dispel stereotypes about engineers and scientists and inspire girls to pursue these studies in high school and post-secondary education.

Girls club meets once a month on Saturday afternoons and explore a different topic with the help of a female role model currently working or studying in science or engineering.

Come and volunteer at a meeting and share your passion for engineering.

Your A-Soc WiE team is back on campus for the Spring term! 

If you are on or around campus, we invite you to join us at our first event, a campfire at the Columbia Lake 1 Fire Pit (CL1) this Thursday May 16th. This event is open to all engineering students interested in WiE.

We will be having a campfire, roasting marshmallows, and providing drinks. It will run from 7:30pm until 9:30pm.

WiE will be welcoming newly admitted female students to the Waterloo Engineering community. They admitted students are invited to participate in a panel discussion and activity to learn all about what to expect at the University of Waterloo.

We are hoping to recruit 20 volunteers who can help with the hands-on activities as well as help with the following duties:

The University of Waterloo is hosting a mini Go Eng Girl  for girls in grades 9 and 10 on Saturday May 25th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. At this meeting, girls will be exploring computer science and electrical engineering. They will have the opportunity to make a simple video game and build a controller for their game! The University of Waterloo will host 50 grade 11 girls who are thinking about engineering for the weekend.

Delegates will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in hands-on workshops
  • Explore the University of Waterloo
  • Meet female students in engineering
  • Compete in a design competition
  • Experience life in residence!

Thursday, March 7, 2013 — 6:00 PM EST

WiE will be helping to build the Provincial Rube Goldberg initiative run by the Engineering Student Societies' Council of Ontario (ESSCO) in partnership with the Ontario Society of Professional Engineerings (OSPE).  Waterloo will be building a section of a pronvince wide Rube Goldberg machine that will travel across the province to 10 different engineering schools before finally arriving at the CN tower, where the final piece of the machine will hit the switch that turns it PURPLE! (The colour of Engineering).
