Designed by a previous co-op student, this study explored how students perceived the relevance of a co-op role by reading a job description. Students were assigned to one of three conditions: receiving a skills relevance testimony from an upper year student, receiving a career planning relevance testimony from an upper year student, or a control condition.

Students were then shown a series of job descriptions and were asked if they would apply, and how relevant they viewed the job to be and why. Understanding how students perceive the relevance of a co-op job will help employers understand how to highlight their job opportunities and help educators understand how to best support students in the job search process.
