English Conversation Circles
The English Conversation Circles is an interactive online program for undergraduate and graduate students who are looking to talk with other students and build confidence in their English conversation skills.
The goals of the program are to help build students' vocabulary and ability to converse in casual conversation, to familiarize them with Canadian content that is not part of a structured ESL program, and to work on discussing topics that are relevant to them.
The program is facilitated by our friendly writing advisors and runs for six weeks through our online appointment system, WCOnline. Students are assigned to small groups and will meet virtually once a week over the six-week period for facilitated discussions on different topics related to life in Canada.
The Fall 2020 program runs September 14 – October 30. All you need to do to participate is fill out the form and the WCC will email you with your next steps.
Due to COVID-19, the Writing and Communication Centre has made the difficult decision to cancel the spring 2020 term English Conversation Circles and English Conversation Café sessions. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, and we look forward to finding ways to support the English Practice Community in future terms.
For students looking to practice their English speaking and writing skills, we offer virtual one-to-one appointments with our Writing and Multimodal Communication specialists. You can book appointments with our specialists to work on anything related to improving your speaking and writing skills. Visit our appointments page for more information on how to book a virtual appointment.
