Campus firewalls will be updated according to the following schedule, during the week of February 17th to 21st. Maintenance will occur between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM daily.

February 18th - 7:00 AM - Innovation Arena - Short interruption to network access while the device reboots
February 19th - 5:00 AM - Border Firewall - No impact expected
February 20th - 5:00 AM - Data Center Firewall - No impact expected
February 21st - 6:00 AM - Data Center VPN - Connections will re-establish as a controlled failover occurs

Monitoring - At 1700h git.uwaterloo.ca will be upgraded to 17.3.3 as part of system maintenance. This will result in one or more short downtimes, although the system should be back in service before the window is up.

Investigating - When performing an OS upgrading on mailman (lists) last night we found a hidden unsupported dependency.
No email has been lost, but it's queueing up.
We'll be stopping the service, collecting the spooled emails, reverting to the old OS, and dropping the mail back in the queue for processing.
This may take a few hours.

Scheduled Maintenance
During the maintenance window, we will be updating the ADFS communication cert.  Brief outages of a few seconds are expected when restarting the ADFS service.

On Monday March 10th at 7:00 AM, the eduroam SSL certificate will be replaced.

Clients may receive a notification that the certificate has changed and will need to accept the new certificate. Some clients may need to remove the eduroam profile from their device and reconnect to the wireless network.

The new certificate can be verified by following the IST Knowledge Base article titled Eduroam certificate verification.

Scheduled - IST network services is going to upgrade one of the IPAM DDI servers to a 10G link on Thursday morning, Feb. 13th, between 7:00 am and 8:00 am.
The operation will cause a brief interruption to the server.
Clients should not experience any interruption to the DHCP and DNS services, since the servers are in redundant mode.

Resolved - The problem was mitigated on February 3rd by temporarily disabling an ISP link.

The ISP traced their issue to fiber damage. Once corrected, IST re-enabled the link and the problem was resolved.
