Exceptional students need exceptional spaces to think and collaborate. In 2016, the Library begins one of its biggest undertakings ever — a 10-year project to update areas where staff and students meet and work.
Phase one of the revitalization project involves the Davis Centre Library, and the third and fifth floors of the Dana Porter Library.
The improvements create better spaces for students to find inspiration in quiet, individual study or lively discussion.
“The Library is a home away from home for students,” says Annie Bélanger, Associate University Librarian, Information Resources and Academic Excellence. “It’s a place where people can feel safe and included, and when they need assistance with learning, there will be someone to help.”
Building on the Library’s New Spaces for New Times strategic objective, the project does much more than move shelves and replace furniture.
It enhances academic excellence and promotes wellness by creating space that is safe, accessible and inclusive. To meet these and other goals, the Library encourages its wide circle of friends — students, staff, faculty, alumni — to join the project and build an outstanding environment for scholarship.
Libraries set the stage for life-long learning by helping people connect with education in new, imaginative ways.
