This file consists of photocopies made for K.M. McLaughlin by the National Archives of Canada and consists of documents pertaining to the Acadian Club raid and the attempt to gain restitution from the government. The file contains copies of letters by N.A. Zick, President of the Acadian Club, W.G. Weichel, M.P., Sir Sam Hughes, Minister of Militia and Defence, and others, as well as a memorandum of damage done and recommendation of the Court of Inquiry. It also contains 2 photocopied chapters from Ontario and the First World War, 1914-1918: a collection of documents.

Fonds consists of Alice Hagen's correspondence, clippings, articles and ephemera relating to her work in pottery and ceramics. Includes correspondence with Elizabeth Long regarding her part in painting plates for the Canadian Senate's gift of hand-decorated china to Lord and Lady Aberdeen at the emd of the former's term as Governor General of Canada in 1898.

Accrual consists of materials created and accumulated by Alice Riggs Hunt and her family. Includes correspondence to and from Alice, locks of hair, and photographs. The photographs document other members of the Hunt family including her mother Mary Osgood Riggs Hunt (1860-1953) and her brother Charles Warren Hunt Jr. (1888-1953). Also present are over 500 slides documenting Charles Warren Hunt Jr.'s trip around the world.

Fonds consists of materials relating to the personal and professional lives and interests of Alida and George Burrett. Contains materials relating to Alida's interests in women's rights and the environment, and her work with the Kitchener-Waterloo Status of Women Group. Also contains materials relating to the couple's shared interest in nuclear disarmament and George's work with the Waterloo Region Peace Network. Includes clippings, ephemera, financial records, meeting minutes, correspondence, etc.

Three letters written by Marion Webster during her time as a missionary in Angola for the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola. Her letters detail the history and geography of Angola, as well as activities undertaken by her. Also includes 5 envelopes from Marion Webster that do not correspondence with the letters.

One notebook kept by Auna Krems with passages from the Bible. The notebook is almost entirely in German with the exception of the last page which is the English lyrics to the gospel song "Room Among the Angels." It is possible that Auna was living in Austria, as the surname Krems comes from the town of the same name.

One autograph album kept by an unknown person. The album spans from 1825-1854 and features biblical and literary passages written by those in England and Scotland. Locations include Glasgow, York, London, Newark, Rotherham and more. In the back of the volume is the Lord's prayer written in Malay by a Mr. Trout, Baptist missionary in Batavia, Java.

Collection contains prints of Canadian landscapes done by William Henry Bartlett in 1841 and portraits of prominent 17th and 18th century politicians from Europe and Canada. Also included are letters from English prime ministers dating around the 1700s. The collection is arranged in one series consisting of print engravings, a file of Bartlett prints, and a scrapbook containing letters.

Materials created and accumulated by Bernard Suits over the course of his education and teaching career. Includes materials created as a student such as class notes and exams, materials created as a professor at the University of Waterloo including course outlines and exams, published and unpublished fiction and non-fiction works, correspondence, meeting minutes, and audio and visual recordings of Suits' lectures.

Eight handbound volumes. Bernt Vik attended a textile school in Sweden, possibly in Gothenburg. He and his classmates created handbound books of their notes and handouts because affordable texts from Europe and Scandinavia were not available. The volumes consist of mimeograph handouts of text, plus pasted in diagrams and illustrations. Some of the illustrations are mimeograph handouts, some are published illustrations or photographs. Also included are hand-drawn weaving diagrams as well as textile and wool samples.

Collection consists of materials created and accumulated by Bertram R. Davis on the history of Bristol and the romantics. Includes correspondence between 164 correspondents, 45 manuscript groups, research notes, photographs, clippings, articles, offprints, excerpts, and other ephemera. Also included is a file of correspondence from Bertram donated by Kenneth Curry and a file of correspondence relating to portraits of Southey donated by Dr. Warren U. Ober.

Fonds consists primarily of correspondence, 116 letters, from Beulah Alloway to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Misener of Brantford, Ont. The letters describe her journey to Africa and her daily life and work as a missionary in Kenya. Also included are newsletters sent out by the Alloways, correspondence relating to Beulah's death, and 4 photographs.

The fonds consists of two volumes, one a letter book R. Boehmer & Co., 1900-1908, and the other the minute book of the Kitchener, Waterloo and Bridgeport Coal Dealers Association, 1919-1936. E.S. Boehmer was secretary of the Association and H. Boehmer was a member. Also included is a small amount of ephemera.

The Breithaupt Hewetson Clark collection includes family papers the three families named; the Breithaupt family, the Hewetson family, and the Clark family. Made up of over several hundred cubic feet of archives, about 12,000 photographs, several thousand printed items and a large group of "subject and topical files" as well as plans, maps and drawings.

The largest set of family records are those related to the Breithaupt family of what is today Kitchener with the earliest documents being from the period of Liborious Breithaupt's emigration in 1843. A small group of family papers collected by Spencer Clark contains material on the Clark and Alexander families. Other families including the Devitt family of Waterloo and the Davis family of Brampton are also represented in the collection.

Also in the collection are records related to the Guild of All Arts (now the Guild Inn) in Scarborough, Ontario from its inception in 1932 to the 1980s. Founded by Rosa Breithaupt Hewetson Clark and Spencer Clark, the Guild began as a co-operative crafts community, and evolved primarily as a hotel and conference centre. In addition to Guild records, the Breithaupt Hewetson Clark collection holds smaller collections acquired by the Breithaupt family and by Spencer Clark. The personal library of Spencer Clark, which includes many books, periodicals, government documents, and ephemeral items, was donated together with the archival collections, and is particularly strong in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and Canadian art.

Materials include family papers from three families, the Breithaupt family, the Hewetson family, and the Clark family; records from the Guild of All Arts in Scarborough, Ontario, founded by Rosa Breithaupt Hewetson Clark and Spencer Clark; and several smaller collections acquired by the Breithaupt family and by Spencer Clark. The personal library of Spencer Clark, which includes many books, periodicals, government documents, and ephemeral items, was donated together with the archival collections, and is particularly strong in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and Canadian art.

Materials related to the history of the Buchanan, Woelfle, Cook, and McEwan families as well as to extended family members and friends in Waterloo Region. Includes family documents, photographs, information on the family home, ephemera and more that document multiple generations of a Waterloo Region family.

Material created or accumulated by Cameron Hill and his family during the Second World War and in the years following. Includes records related to Cameron’s military training, uniform and personal gear, and service overseas. Also contains records related to Cameron’s time held in custody as a prisoner of war as well as his liberation and repatriation home to Canada and his life in later years.

One photograph album kept by a member of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers documenting a Canadian west coast trip through the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. The 120 silver gelatin photographs show images of interest to the engineers including elevators, irrigation works, mines, smelting works and power plants as well as the scenery of the Rocky Mountains and local people and wildlife. Of particular note is the fact that the party contained numerous women, not all of whom were wives. The front of the album has a pastedown listing all participants in the tour and the back a pastedown listing captions for all of the images.

Materials created or accumulated by the Carold Institute during its active years (1989-2016). Includes materials related to the administration of the Institute through different meetings, financial information, and correspondence; publications associated with different events and programs the Institute organized; historical materials covering the institutionalization and evolution of the Institute; and materials related to awards and recognitions given by the Institute in different occasions.

Fonds consists of photocopies of materials created and accumulated by C.E. Carrington, the biographer of Rudyard Kipling. Includes typescript excerpts from Carrie Kipling's diary, as well as articles on the Kiplings and a list of corrections for Carrington's work "Rudyard Kipling: His Life and Work."

Fonds consists of material accumulated by Catherine Taylor throughout her career as a nurse. Includes correspondence, certificates, clippings, an autograph book, and other material. Correspondents include Viscountess Eleanor Sandhurst, wife of the Lord High Chamberlain of England and Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen, and Sir Thomas J. Lipton.

Fonds consists of records documenting most aspects of the development of the Central Ontario Art Association, the events and activities of the association, and its administration and membership in the period from its formation in 1954 to about 2000, with some gaps in coverage. The records were accumulated by various members and some organization was imposed by the association for the purpose of researching its history.

Fonds includes correspondence, membership lists, flyers, announcements, programs, newsletters, exhibitors' catalogues, minutes, reports, the association constitution and by-laws, histories, forms and questionnaires, clippings, lectures and articles, photocopied information, photographs, slides, and other material.

File consists of one letter from Christian Enslin, bookseller and bookbinder, Waterloo, Ontario to Fredrick Heinitsch, M.D., Lancaster, Pennsylvania requesting the right to "Mother Drops", a medicine created by Dr. Heinitsch on which he held the patent.
The letter also includes information on bookbinding and printing practices in Upper Canada and makes reference to local figures such as Benjamin Eby, Bishop of the Mennonites.

Fonds consists of correspondence, documents, journals, and a photograph relating to Colin Rankin's activity as a Fur Trader for the Hudson's Bay Company. Included are three journals kept by Donald McKay, Fur Trader, between 1799 and 1806, which were acquired by Rankin probably during his stay in the Temiskaming district.

The majority of the archives of the Concordia Club were destroyed either as a result of the ransacking of the club by the 118th Batallion in 1916, or as a result of the fire of Nov. 17, 1971. As a result the earliest records of Concordia have largely been lost forever. A very small number of items can be traced back to the Concordia Male Choir (1873-1914). These take the form of two items of correspondence, programs for the "Sängerfests", clippings, and photographs. A small number of archival records also can be found which belonged to the "Deutscher Club, Kitchener" (1925-1930), and include a set of house rules, letters patent, and photographs. Some records from the 1930s have also been preserved to this day, and include artifacts, clippings, legal documents, a membership list, photographs, and programs of events. However, the majority of the materials date from the 1950s onwards. These materials document the history of the Concordia Club since the 1950s, and include artifacts, audiovisual material, clippings, correspondence, ephemera, financial records, legal documents, membership records, minutes of meetings, photographs, publications, and scrapbooks.

Carbon typescript transcript of Arthur Lang's diary prepared as a Christmas souvenir in 1907 by T.A. Lang in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. It includes a copy of a letter from one of Arthur Lang's granddaughters, giving some family background. Arthur Lang describes the sea voyage, scenery, and passengers on trip from Montreal, through the Lachine Rapids, to Prescott, Ontario. The diary also discusses Lang’s experiences inspecting land near the townships of Ramsay, Lanark, and Dalhousie in Lanark County, Ontario.

Correspondence from Daniel Claus to Captain Matthews. The letter is regarding the capture of Peter Hansen and his servant as members of the rebellion by the Mohawk nation to be used to gather intelligence. The letter also mentions a contract for fresh meat, and that members of the village had been unwell. At this time Claus had been appointed deputy agent of the Six Nations in Canada under Frederick Haldimand.

Culinary and medicinal manuscript household recipe notebook including recipes for food (such as jelly and lemonade), medicinal remedies (such as an earache cure and a cough syrup), and household remedies (such as furniture cream and cement).
Contents are divided into sections. First 25 pages are not numbered and include lists of contents. Pages 1 to 73 are numbered and contain culinary recipes, medicinal remedies, and household remedies. Pages 74 to 108 are numbered and left blank with a few pencil-written sums and calculations. Pages 109 to 112 were numbered and are missing. Pages 113 to 115 are numbered and contain culinary recipes and household remedies.
Includes unbound pages with recipes inserted in the book.
Script is in black, blue, and red ink and graphite pencil.

Two scrapbooks, the first compiled by Damaris Smith containing clippings, engravings, stamps and seals, obituaries and biographies of prominent suffragists, literary, political and social women, some British. The second, compiled by her daughter Gertrude, contains an article written by Damaris Smith entitled "Pioneer Wife". As well, it documents the history of the Smith family and contains photographs and a pencil sketch of the "Mountain Hall" homestead.

Fonds consists of materials created and accumulate by Dana Porter during his personal and professional career, as well as materials collected posthumously and created and accumulated by his wife and children. Includes photographs, correspondence, research notes, essays and other writings, ephemera, scrapbooks and clippings.

Fonds consists of records generated in the course of business by Dare Foods Limited and its subsidiary companies. It includes financial statements; account books; minutes; correspondence; letters patent; legal records; share registers; biscuit, cracker and candy formulas; architectural drawings; biscuit, cracker and candy packaging samples; price lists; photographs; television, radio and print advertisements; publications; artifacts; manuals; the records of J.R. Worthington; internal newsletters; and newspaper clippings. Fonds also contains the records of The Almer Company Limited and Sunbeam Shoes, companies acquired privately by Carl Dare.

Accrual consists primarily of material accumulated by William J. Hopp, a baker and plant supervisor at the Dare Biscuit Company in Kitchener, Ontario, and other material relating to the incorporation and history of Dare Foods Limited, including two labour strikes.

Includes letters patent and by-laws, training and conference materials relating to the manufacture of cookies and crackers, recipe books containing cookie and cracker formulae, research reports, clippings, bulletins, correspondence and memoranda, photographs, catalogues and brochures, packaging, and other material.

Typescript letter regarding lumbering on Lake Huron, Ontario written by David M. Netterfield. The letter describes the history of the Spanish River Lumber Company that operated near the Sauble River, between 1882 and the 1940's, focusing on the 20th century history of the company. Account makes reference to the Spanish River Indian Reserve, Wahnapitae, Ontario, the Great Lakes Storm of 1913 and the Mississauga Timber Reserve. Also included is a business card dated July 14, 1958, for Noranda Mines Limited located in Toronto, Ontario with a handwritten note that reads: Thought this might interest you. Hope you had a good trip. Hank. 14 July/58."

Five land grants from the Department of Indian Affairs granting promised Indigenous lands. The grants are made out to Benjamin Franklin Mutchmor (200 acres), Elizabeth Mutchmor (175 acres), Charles Woodward (100 acres), and Mary Rowe (100 acres). The lands granted were to be for the use of the Ojibwe and Odawa of Manitoulin Island.

Contains one letter dated January 21, 1963 and addressed to "My Dear Jean" from Dion Calthrop Clayton regarding his book. Underneath the body of the letter is a drawing in black ink of a person blowing on a trumpet. There is also a separate, folded leaflet included with the letter titled, "In Memoriam 1881-1937". Inside the leaflet is a black and white profile shot of Calthrop.

Collection consists of F.W. Wegenast's material relating to the trial of Dorothea Palmer. It contains correspondence, manuscripts, typescripts of court examinations, arguments used in court, research materials, documents, printed and published items, and clippings relating to the case Rex vs. Palmer.

Fond consists primarily of textual records relating to Leavine's political career as mayor of the City of Kitchener and as an M.P.P. (PC) for the constituency of Waterloo North, and his medical career as a doctor in Kitchener. Included are speeches, notes, news clippings, and scrapbooks related to his professional activities, as well as collected ephemera, photographs of Leavine and his family, and material related to his studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.

Accounts of the German Baptist Church from 1894-1923. The volume contains lists of members, including many familiar local names, and statements of accounts. It also contains documents relating to the Benton St. Baptist Church, including annual reports and financial statements ca. 1919-1930.

Like many other Kitchener natives, E.B. Dunke seems to have purchased land in Saskatchewan, documented by one file of correspondence.

Edwin Dunke was probably the proprietor, or part owner, of Dunke and Co., a grocery store at 35 King. St. E. between Queen and Benton Streets. The "day books" of this store, complete with customers' names, purchases and store inventories reveal the daily lives, diets and purchasing patterns of local families and individuals from 1896 to 1930.

Fonds consists of records relating to the administration, operation, products, and history of Electrohome Limited and its subsidiary companies, as well as its predecessors, Pollock-Welker Limited, the Grimes Radio Corporation Limited, and the Phonola Company of Canada Limited. Includes letters patent and by-laws, share certificates and registers, board of directors' minutes, legal records, financial statements, correspondence, memoranda, advertisements and product literature, internal and external publicity materials, news releases and press kits, press clippings, speeches, sales kits and manuals, photographs and other visual materials, ephemera, architectural and technical drawings, sound recordings, computer disks, and artifacts.

Accrual consists mainly of moving images, sound recordings, and slides relating to Electrohome, especially public relations, sales and marketing, and advertising, as well as some documenting various aspects of the company's facilities, operations, and history. Accrual also includes materials relating to the administration of Electrohome, and in particular financial reports for the company from 1985-2000 as well as some public relations materials from 1979-1984 and annual reports for the years 1997-1999.

This fonds documents a social and family history spanning almost one century. It revolves primarily around three women: Elizabeth Smith Shortt, and her daughters, Muriel Clarke and Lorraine Shortt. The fonds contains family correspondence, 1880 - 1970, general correspondence 1876-1970, manuscripts, diaries, typescripts, pamphlets, clippings and photographs.

Correspondence includes Cecil B. and Senator E.D. Smith, the Smith and Shortt family letters, Adam and Elizabeth Shortt love letters, but primarily correspondence during and after the war period between Elizabeth, her daughters Muriel and Lorraine, until Elizabeth's death in 1949. Letters follow Elizabeth Smith through Queen's University, her role in formation of the Queen's Medical School for women, her concern with local and national councils of women, and a variety of clubs, commissions, and organizations. Correspondents includes Augusta Stowe-Gullen, Dr. Jennie K. Trout, Eliza Fitzgerald, Lady Ishbel Aberdeen. Also present are 15 manuscript diaries kept by E. Smith Shortt covering the period from 1872-1932 (typescript available for first 8 diaries). Diaries 1892-1911 are memoirs of Shortts' European trips. 23 diaries or day books kept by Lorraine Shortt from 1912-1943 are also present.

The fonds contains also approximately 50 manuscript addresses, reports and speeches given by Elizabeth Shortt, as well as speeches by Lorraine Shortt. About 100-150 pamphlets and leaflets on a variety of subjects document Elizabeth's interests and activities, especially war period and restoration, National Council of Women, Mother's Allowance Commission, etc. Also present are clippings from 1800-1960, original and photocopied newspaper and magazine clippings and articles arranged under about 50 headings dealing with the Shortt and Smith families, and with a multiplicity of organized groups that formed at the turn of the century. Miscellaneous documents include notebooks of Elizabeth Shortt's subjects at Queen's Medical School, certificates, records of investments, bank records, war medals, autograph books, and scrapbook belonging to the family. Photograph albums and approximately 100 loose photographs of family and friends complete this fonds.

Material by and about Emily Murphy, particularly relating to the "persons" case, her work as a police magistrate, material relating to a biography of her by Byrne Hope Sanders, as well as biographical material assembled after her death. Includes correspondence, clippings, photographs, notebooks and petitions.

Fonds consists of one scrapbook assembled by Ethel and Anne Longfellow during their attendance at Smith College, Massachusetts between 1902-1906. The scrapbook contains correspondence, photographs, programmes, clippings, notes and ephemera detailing the academic and social life of the sisters.

Fonds contains autographs collected by Eugene Ferrin Clark from various British and American actors. Correspondence from Clark to various people soliciting autographs and autographed photographs are included.
