Bernt Vik fonds. - [194-].
33 cm. of textual records.
Bernt Vik was born in Stavanger, Norway, and died in 1999 at the age of 84. He was trained as a textile engineer-designer in Sweden.
During the Second World War he was active in the Norwegian anti-Nazi resistance. He came to Canada in 1955 and was employed in a number of textile-related enterprises until retirement in the mid-1980's.
Bernt Vik attended the Lennings Textiltekniska Institut in Norrköping, Sweden in the early 1940s (during Nazi occupation). He was not able to get textbooks during this time, so he put together notes, diagrams, and fibre samples and bound them in book boards.
Fonds consists of eight hand-bound and handmade textile textbooks that Bernt Vik compiled and bound while a textile engineering student in Sweden. The textbooks include fabric and fibre samples, as well as ts. mimeograph notes and illustrations.
