BCS, in progress: Peter Ricketts continues to play basketball in Dominica and feels passionately that Dominica needs to begin focusing on 3×3 Basketball, and to increase the participation of women in the sport locally.

BMath ’87: Jaqui Parchment wrote an opinion piece on systemic racism in the Globe and Mail. She encouraged a shift in thinking to start cultivating a more deeply rooted sense of belonging in our workplaces.

BMath ’88: Jan Jaworsky, known as the ScarfLady, pivoted her business to produce fashionable masks for professionals as they return to the office.

BMath '88: Sue Riebel, Global Head of Retirement, Manulife Investment Management, was quoted in an article regarding the effects of COVID on the financial outlook for nearly half of working Canadians.

PhD ’89: Professor Gerarda Darlington named Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) at the University of Guelph.

PhD ’91, GCERT ’15: Venkatesh Raman, a professor at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, became the new Secretary/Treasurer for India Council of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

BMath ’92: Fabrizio Brasca, group vice president (GVP), global solutions at Blue Yonder, wrote an article about the new mindset needed in the field of logistics.

BMath '92: Accelerator Centre chief executive officer Paul Salvini will be leaving the organization next month.

BMath ’95: Michele Mosca co-chairs the new Quantum industry Canada association. With two quantum companies, Mosca is one of 24 founding members represent Canada's most commercial-ready quantum technologies, covering applications in quantum computing, quantum sensing, quantum communications, and quantum-safe cryptography.

BMath ’95: John Wong made one of the local Arizona papers for his wood-fired pizza at his restaurant Bloom Asian in downtown Globe.

MMath ’95: Barbara Zvan became the first full-time employee as CEO of the new $10-billion University Pension Plan Ontario.

BCS ’08: Nathan Hoel's company that he co-founded, BinSentry, signed an exclusive distribution deal with one of the world’s largest agricultural companies to take its sensor technology around the globe.

PhD ’10: Rolando Blanco has entered into a strategic technology partnership with Cooper Equipment to spearhead the Company's ongoing data and integration initiatives.

MMath ’10: Johnny Valeriote collaborated with other mathematicians to develop a tool to help sports franchises keep the fan experience at stadiums and arenas the safest it can be in this era of COVID-19.

BMath ’11, BBA ’11: Vy (Ngoc) Le is an actuary, a risk manager, a lifelong learner and an actuary has started a YouTube channel. She's looking to promote career planning and education, specifically related to math and technology. Her channel's mission is to help people study smarter, work better and live happier. BCS ’13: Basil Al-Dajane, co-founder of Medley, was in the Waterloo Region Record regarding discussions between landlords and tenants to get people back to work.

PhD ’16: Hadi Hosseini joins the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State University this fall as an assistant professor.

MMath ’17: Philip Lafrance, Standards Manager at ISARA, wrote a piece for Security Boulevard about adopting quantum-safe cryptography sooner rather than later.

BMath ’17: Ilia Sucholutsky, currently completing his doctorate, has developed a new faster way to train AI with his supervisor Mattthias Schonlau.

BMath ’15: Deon Nicholas, CEO and co-founder of Forethought, was interviewed by Forbes magazine after his company raised $17M in Series B funding on October 28.

BMath ’15: Hao Qin was promoted to Vice President of HGGC in California.
