Contact Lens Prescribing Survey

For the past 20 years, Canadian optometrists have participated in an annual, worldwide study to investigate the current state of contact lens prescribing. The Center for Ocular Research & Education (CORE) at the University of Waterloo collaborates with the University of Manchester (UK) to investigate the current state of contact lens prescribing in their respective countries. The benefit of the survey is to enable practitioners to gain an understanding of current contact lens prescribing trends in Canada as well as other countries worldwide.

In the past, paper surveys were mailed to practitioners throughout Canada. This year we are moving to a different format. You have two options to participate. You can print a paper version of the questionnaire to complete and once completed you can post, scan and email or fax it to Dr. Debbie Jones (see contact details below) or you can complete the online version of the survey. Note that the online version has multiple language options to choose from. Please choose Canada as your country so that we are represented appropriately. The hard copy can be downloaded in English or French. Further study information can be found in the explanatory letter (English or French)

Note that the survey asks you to complete information on the next 10 patients that you fit with contact lenses. Details such as lens type, wearing modality, solution type will be asked.  No identifying information is being requested about patients or practitioners and only the aggregated information will be published and all information pertaining to the study will be strictly confidential. The data will be securely stored for five years at CORE. The results will be published in optometric journals during the next year. The 2023 results can be accessed in Contact Lens Spectrum.

Thank you for your participation in this study.
