In 2017, the University of Waterloo celebrates 60 years of innovation and our dedicated alumni and donors are a big part of this milestone.
In 1957, Waterloo set out to forge an unconventional path — one shaped by commitment to co-operative education, world-class scholarship, a desire to serve society and deep connections to industry.
In this relatively short time, Waterloo has emerged as an international leader in frontier disciplines including quantum computing, water security and sustainability, population health, connected vehicle technology and information and computing technology. Breakthrough research in these areas will change how we live, communicate, work, travel and connect over the next 60 years.
But our greatest success story is our alumni. Around the world, Waterloo graduates make an impact in thousands of fields, bringing innovative solutions to the most pressing problems of our time. As they work to improve lives, they also give back — as volunteers, co-op employers, advocates and donors — to support the next generation of students as they embark on their own Waterloo journeys.
