Hello Arts alumni! I hope you have all been enjoying the summer. The weather here in Waterloo has been a bit hot and humid but I can’t really complain—we’ve had many blue-sky days.
Even though we haven’t been able to meet in person, we’ve seen more alumni connect with us than ever before, and from all over the world, no less.
I thank everyone who has submitted a Class Note update. Upon its return in the last issue, the Class Notes section instantly became our most read column. For those of you who are a bit shy about connecting – no update is too small. Send in your Class Notes – we (and your fellow alumni) love hearing from you!
Fall is always a great time to be back on campus, and this fall feels extremely special as we open the campus to more in-person activity for students. While alumni activity is still mostly online, students’ interest in hearing from alumni has never been greater. We’ve definitely seen increased interest in our Alumni in the (Virtual) Hub events and expect a great fall ARBUS Speed Networking event. If you have a unique career path or interesting story, please let me know.
Again, if you haven’t done so yet, I encourage you to sign up for UWaterloo Arts Café, to be matched to other alumni or students. (If you are a new alumnus, don’t forget to update your “role” from student to “new grad”!) With the new school year, many first-years will be joining the platform, and we also see third- and and fourth-year students joining or become more active as they start to explore post-grad options. Your experience will be a valuable resource to them.
And finally, watch out for your Alumni Black and Gold invitation coming out soon.
As always, I welcome the opportunity to speak with you any time, to learn about your experiences while studying at UWaterloo and your path since graduation. Let's discuss how you might engage with the Faculty today. Please contact me at phoebe.wong@uwaterloo.ca.
