"As the current Artists-in-Residence at Brubacher House, we are looking to translate, preserve, and commemorate the German-speaking Mennonite literary tradition. From November 2022 to February 2023, we will be collecting previously untranslated German language poems to be included in a bilingual collection of German Mennonite poetry from Waterloo Region. The poems can be from any time period but must be written by a Mennonite author from or with connections to the Region of Waterloo. We are collecting poems both in High German and Pennsylvania German. The goal of our project is to maintain dialogue across generations within the local Mennonite literary tradition by making works available in English.

The project will culminate in public reading in the spring of 2023.

Please email your poems with a short author statement to: brubacherpoetryproject@gmail.com.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you have other comments or questions about the project."
