Graham Medal in Computing and Innovation recipient and Director of Software Development at Google, and Sandra Banks, Vice-President, University Relations at Waterloo – as we discuss the impact and changes COVID-19 has had on women in the workforce. As an advocate for work-life balance, Joanne talks candidly about her experiences gaining increasing responsibility in her career while prioritizing family.

Annual Dean’s Lecture in Hong Kong & Pi Day Celebration (March 14, 2021)
This event featured an exclusive fireside update and conversation for our Hong Kong alumni community with the 12th Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Mark Giesbrecht, and a brief talk about DATA CHALLENGES LAID BARE BY COVID-19 by Vivek Goel CM, Professor, Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and President Designate, University of Waterloo.
Professor Jochen Koenemann, Chair, Department of Combinatorics and Optimization, gave a public lecture that showcased the impact of mathematics and promising algorithms coming out of research within the Faculty to address challenges from delicate surgeries to 3D problems to global logistics and transport.
