Waterloo’s local Programming Contests are held every term, and conducted according to ICPC Rules with the following variances:
- each entrant is a single individual, rather than a team of three
- each contest is three hours long, rather than five
- there are five questions
In the fall, Waterloo’s local contests are used to select teams to represent Waterloo at the International Collegiate Programming Contest. All UW students are welcome — come to learn, come for fun, or come to win. Available programming languages are Racket, C, C++, Java, Pascal, Python, and Scala. You are allowed to bring notes and books. You are not allowed any electronic aids like calculators or the Web.

Timetable:
- 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Sign-in and account setup. Login instructions will be emailed to contestants by 10:30am.
- 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Practice contest
- — lunch break —
- 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Contest
- 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Discussion of problems; announcement of results. This will take place in MC 2038.
- Register on-line or see who’s registered. If you are competing remotely, use the contest environment to get the problems and submit your solutions.
- The registration deadline is 11:59pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
