The Math Graduate Student Association (Math GSA) will be holding an election for a number of available positions this summer from August 23rd to the 27th. The nomination period for the election will begin on Monday August 2nd and runs until 11:59pm on Sunday August 15th.During this time we will be accepting nominations for the following positions on the Math GSA board of directors:
- Secretary
- Publicity Officer
- Applied Math Department Director
- Combinatorics & Optimization Department Director
- Computer Science Department Director
- Pure Math Department Director
- Statistics & Actuarial Science Department Director
To submit a nomination, please email us at mathgsa@uwaterloo.ca with the following information:
- Nominee’s name
- Program (Masters/PhD, department)
- Year of study
- The board position nominated for
- A short one-paragraph statement of interest outlining why the nominee would be a good fit for the position
This information will be made available to all math graduate students during the voting period. For nominees that are not self-nominated, we will contact the nominee before the voting period to ensure the nominee accepts the nomination. Please note the department/program director positions are only open for the students from the specified department/program.
The term for all available positions begins on Sept. 1st 2021 and will run for one or two years depending on the position. Please see here for a description of each position. Note that elections for the following positions: Computational Math Program Director, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Program Director and Masters of Math Teachers Program Director will be held at a later date in the Fall 2021 semester.
