Waterloo Region is currently experiencing a cold snap with temperatures as low as -19 C forecast for today by Environment Canada. Cold, brisk winds are expected and may produce widespread, dangerous wind chills as low as -40 C.
The University remains open, but Geoff McBoyle, vice-president academic and provost, says that undergraduate students will not be penalized if they do not attend class today. Students, faculty and staff are responsible for determining when weather conditions make travel unsafe. Those traveling to campus are encouraged to exercise caution, dress appropriately for time spent outdoors and consider using public transit. Grand River Transit, GO Transit and Greyhound buses are operating today, although some delays are expected.
The Bright Starts Co-operative Early Learning Centre daycare is closed today.
The University of Waterloo Stratford campus is closed. University of Waterloo Stratford campus classes have been cancelled today with the exception of GBDA228 classes will take place on the main campus.
