Adaptive Controls for Magnetic Levitation System

  • The work revolves around the incorporation of adaptive controls to a system composed of permanent magnetics and electro-magnets to facilitate stable levitation of the magnets
  • Conventional control systems assume that plant parameters (parameters associated with the system and actuators) are constant as a function of time.
  • However, for complex systems with control models developed experimentally, the principles of adaptive controls facilitate computation of plant parameters at each time-step.
  • System Input: Current supplied to the coils, System Output: Distance between the levitating object and the coil
