The University of Waterloo is a hub with an incredible impact on the local community. The economy of our city is largely influenced by the presence of two Universities and a College. Waterloo, though, is unique among the three academic and training institutions in that there are typically large amounts of activity year-round, largely a result of the co-op programs run at Waterloo. This causes large numbers of people to be travelling into and out of Waterloo every four months. Our hypothesis is that our community (the UWaterloo community) is not immune to SARS-CoV-2 and that the University campus is a melting pot that brings people together. The objective, therefore, is to sample a thousand patients in 2021, as people start getting vaccinated, to see what type of immunity they may have to SARS-CoV-2. Furthermore, this study is part of a larger effort by the COVID Immunity Task Force (CITF) and will contribute to a national data collection effort, which includes a survey that can complement the serological status of the participants.
