The photo is of the BCCE 2016 Award Winners session held at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. This was a wonderful opportunity for educators from across the United States and around the world, to discuss what they are doing in their classrooms and learn new ideas to take back.
Symposium topics included: assessment, projects and project grading in the chemistry classroom and laboratory, how various electronic devices have been implemented in the classroom, and several specific content areas that high school teachers have been specifically asking for — Energy, Acids/Bases and Equilibrium. The AP teachers attended the always popular George Hauge AP Symposium.
On Tuesday morning there was a plenary entitled Elevating Students with Teaching Expertise - Experiences of Conant Award Winners. During this plenary three James Bryant Conant awardees — Lee Marek, Linda Ford and Jenelle Ball — shared their classroom expertise and experiences as they described the impact of winning the most prestigious award in high school chemistry teaching.
