ChemEd 2019

Come for the chemistry, stay for the fun!

ChemEd 2019 is quickly approaching! If you think you're coming to ChemEd to learn about the best in chemistry education, you're absolutely correct! Not only will you enjoy the chemistry, you'll have a great time engaging with chemistry teachers from around the world with the added bonus of Naperville’s ideal location, just 30 miles from downtown Chicago.

Arrive early on Sunday, July 21st and get yourself acquainted with the charming downtown shops and restaurants of Naperville just blocks from the North Central Campus. If you're arriving earlier, you might spend a day at one of the zoos, museums or other attractions in the Chicago area.

Think chemistry is just formulas and equations? Think again! Let your imagination for the next school year be set free as ChemEd 2019 begins! Kick off our chemistry celebration with the creativity of the Creighton University Musichemistry group.

Explore new ideas and your favorite themes in chemistry... and maybe find a few new exciting ideas as well! Strands include STEM, K-8, Pedagogy, Green Chemistry, Assessment, AP and Beyond.

Enjoy the demos of high school teachers Rhonda Reist and Amy Clement! Hear the stories of Deborah Blum, author of The Poisoner's Handbook and The Poison Squad. Meet Theodore Gray, creator of the beautiful Elements, Molecules, and Reactions books. Laugh (or groan) at the humor of our Chicago chemistry-teaching inspiration, Lee Marek! Renew your love for teaching chemistry by singing along with the science songs of Mike Offutt!

Celebrate your week at our fabulous taste of Chicagoland party. Fill up on some local favorite food and then dance the evening away with the Sundance band!

Feel welcomed whether you've been teaching for just a few months or just a few decades, ChemEd is the place for you!
