Glowing dyes

Kyla Gurganus, Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti MI sent in this colourful photo of fluorescent dyes. The setup was part of a demonstration prepared for a final project by two of her chemistry students, Nicolette and Kevin. The project required presenting two class demonstrations along with making a video aimed at elementary students. Then the students submitted a paper describing the chemistry behind the demonstrations. Kyla commented that she loves how the photo captures the glowing colours with the background showing an opened chemistry notebook and a black light. Kyla will receive The Elements, a book written and donated by Theodore Gray.
