The Digital Information, Security, and Resilience (DISR) Research Group, led by Dr. Bessma Momani, is an interdisciplinary team examining the dynamics of digital information flows online. The group’s work explores the spread of digital mis- and disinformation, challenges related to information security and foreign interference, and the broader implications of these phenomena for democracy. Through evidence-based research that prioritizes community collaboration, the group aims to advance knowledge, inform policy, and contribute to social and democratic resilience.

Digital Toolkits to Mitigate Societal Harms of Disinformation
As part of our ongoing project, Digital Toolkits to Mitigate Societal Harms of Disinformation: Diaspora Communities and Advancing Canadian Social Cohesion, we are developing a comprehensive digital toolkit to promote digital literacy and resilience. Based on our original research and community engagement, the toolkit features short animated videos, infographics, and a targeted awareness campaign across Meta platforms and TV. These efforts aim to support Canada’s ethnocultural diaspora communities in navigating digital information environments more confidently. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates and releases.
