Emotionally Intelligent and Trustworthy Agents Lab
The Emotionally Intelligent and Trustworthy Agents (EITA) Research Lab is dedicated to advancing socially intelligent technologies that enhance health, well-being, and overall quality of life. Founded and directed by Professor Moojan Ghafurian, our work focuses on the user-centered design of emotionally intelligent agents—particularly social robots—across a range of roles including tutoring, training, and assistance.
Our research is highly interdisciplinary, bridging fields such as social robotics, human-computer and human-robot interaction, artificial intelligence, human factors, and affective computing. We explore applications in diverse domains, with main focus being on healthcare and education.
At the core of our mission is a desire to better understand how humans interact socially with robots—and how to enhance those interactions through adaptability, empathy, trust, transparency, and knowledge.
