Waterloo is embarking on a multi-year roadmap to enhance and modernize our core enterprise information systems across the University. This includes work already underway with the expansion of the HR Workday platform as well as a recently launched project for a new enterprise financial system that will replace Unit4.
Together, these initiatives are designed to ensure that our core systems evolve in an integrated manner, supporting the future needs of the University. This work also provides a critical foundation toward achieving greater efficiency and effectiveness in our processes, as well as providing common core and accessible data for relevant and timely decision-making across our institution.

Replacement of enterprise financial system
As a key component of this long-term initiative, we are launching a project to replace our current enterprise financial system Unit4. The target go-live date for our new general financial system has been identified as May 1, 2028. Over the next year, the initial phase of the project will focus on project planning, identifying opportunities for improvement in current processes and managing the RFP process. This phase is scheduled for completion by early March 2026, paving the way for design sessions to commence for the implementation.
