Carly Turnbull

Associate Director, Global Futures

Carly Turnbull is Associate Director, Global Futures at the University of Waterloo. In this role, she supports the strategic planning and delivery of the Global Futures Fund and Global Futures Office.
Carly brings over a decade of leadership experience in research operations, program development, and stakeholder engagement. Prior to joining Global Futures, she served as Managing Director of the Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology at Waterloo, where she led strategic planning, operational management, and cross-disciplinary initiatives, overseeing budgeting, reporting, and partnership development across academic, industry, and government sectors. 
Earlier in her career, Carly worked with Quantum Valley Investments, supporting quantum technology start-ups and contributing to the implementation of the Transformative Quantum Technologies initiative.
Carly holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Waterloo and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Her expertise spans interdisciplinary research coordination, partnership development, and strategic program leadership, enabling collaborative initiatives with meaningful societal impact.
