John Morrison (BSc '76, Kinesiology) has retired for the last seven years after 30 years of being a professor at Seneca College. Prior to that, John was a franchise owner with Tim Horton’s for ten years. Next year holds the celebration of 50 years of marriage to Donna (Christie Rec '76). With Donna, John has two boys and two grandkids.
Dave Dubois (BSc '76, Kinesiology) is alive and well, reported to be living the dream in Washago, Ontario.
Dave Smith (BSc '76, Kinesiology) remained in Waterloo from graduation and became a manager of Specialized Transit with the Region of Waterloo until retiring in 2018. He then went on to receive a Canadian Ski Instructor Alliance level one in December 1976 (50-year member), level 3, and Canadian Ski Coaches Federation level 2 as well. He has been living in Collingwood since and is coming up on his 50th season at the Alpine Ski Club. Dave is currently married with two kids and two grandkids.
Paul Dekking (BSc '76, Kinesiology), has been married for 52 years with two grown children and four grandchildren. He has retired from teaching after 35 years. This includes 25 years teaching seventh grade Physical Education, Maths and Shop, and ten years as a high-school guidance counsellor finishing as the department head. Paul is enjoying retirement with activities such as golf, tennis, squash and pickleball.
Darlene Macartney Koskie (BSc '76, Kinesiology) and her husband, Rick (UW '74) are enjoying life in the Blue Mountains where they golf in the summer and ski in the winter. This summer, they have celebrated 51 years of marriage and have one daughter, Jaime, married to Ryan, and two grand-dogs. Darlene was granted a long career in Sales Management with Bristol Myers Squibb and since retirement has been teaching skiing at Blue Mountain. She has also been the returning officer in Simcoe-Grey for Elections Ontario for the past ten years, reporting it to be a really nice and challenging position. Darlene's one take away from the Kin program was to stay fit and active, which continues to be her life focus. She and her husband are looking forward to the milestone 50-year reunion and are very proud of the University of Waterloo and its achievements.
John Prost (BSc, '76, Kinesiology), following graduation, got his first job in the Pulmonary Function Lab at Toronto General Hospital, performing Pulmonary Function Tests and Clinical Exercise tests on patients in the Department of Respirology. While there, he successfully met the requirements for registry with The Canadian Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Technologists, and later was elected President of the Association from 1985 to 1988. In 1982, he moved to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, becoming Chief Technologist/Manager of the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health. In 2005, John moved into the private sector, focusing more on education and training while working at Summit Technologies as the Clinical Applications Specialist, allowing him to train at various hospitals/clinics across Canada. John joined the team at Trudell Medical in 2018 until retirement in 2024. He shares how it has been an interesting and diverse career, requiring adaptability, perseverance and continued learning, all of which began at Waterloo. John and his wife Claire celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year as well and have three children and five grandchildren.
