Speaker Bio:

Deepika Dixit
Deepika is a design and research enthusiast working towards integrating human-centred design in technology-driven innovation for healthcare. Her work experience in India and the US enabled her to be part of diverse commercial, social and research-based setups for projects on biomedical innovation. Trained as a designer and a biomedical engineer, she has a unique background in medical device design and instrumentation, materials and manufacturing, usability testing, heuristic evaluation, and ergonomics. At Intuitive, she is currently part of the Human Factors team for Ion, Intuitive’s robotic-assisted platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the lung. During a project in India, she led the design team involved in developing an open indirect ophthalmoscope for use in remote primary healthcare centres. This is where she realized the importance of understanding users, user environments, and user interactions for successful product function and adoption. This motivated her to focus on human factors and ergonomics. Deepika was also a fellow at the Stanford-India Biodesign Fellowship program, where she got an opportunity to understand, analyze, and draw parallels within healthcare systems of the developing and developed economies. She is passionate about equitable healthcare and would like to work towards this goal of bridging the care gap globally through her work at Intuitive.
