Human Factors Engineering @ Johnson & Johnson - Ryan Hilgers

On May 17th, 2022 at 10:00 AM (EST), our sixth speaker event of the year will feature Ryan Hilgers from Johnson & Johnson. The UW HFES Student Chapter welcomes Ryan to give a talk about his experience as a Staff Human Factors (HF) Engineer. After his talk, we will have a Q&A period with Ryan. You can anonymously submit your questions before the event here, but we will also take questions live.

Speaker Bio:

Hilgers
Ryan started his HF career working for medical device consulting firms where he gained experience across many medical devices aimed at treating various therapeutic spaces. During his time with BlackHägen Design, Ryan helped develop everything from combination devices, advanced wound dressings, to robotic surgical systems. Recently, Ryan has joined the Robotics and Digital Solutions (RAD) team at Johnson & Johnson and looks forward to contributing to the next generation of advanced surgical solutions. 

Ryan earned his B.S. in Human Factors Psychology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Daytona Beach, FL before entering consulting and starting his M.S. degree online through ERAU. He completed his M.S. in Human Factors and Systems Engineering with a thesis titled “Human Factors Contributing to Preventable Adverse Drug Events; A Grounded Theory Approach”.
